That’s right! Another MAC review! This week, I’m coming at ya with a review on some eyeshadow palettes. These are the Eye Palettes Times Nine. They are a compilation of some of MAC’s most loved eye shadow colors and some that are not so well know.
Price: $32. This is fair for 9 eyeshadows. It comes out to about $3.55 each.
Cruelty Free/Vegan: Unfortunately, just like the MAC lipsticks, no.
“Good for you” ingredients: Not much to report here. Basic eyeshadows. No crazy claims.
Packaging: Love how itty bitty these are! Fit perfectly in the palm of my hand! I also love how there are 9 shadows in this little palette. It’s really handy because you get a lot of variety but the size stays super small.
Dusky Rose Times Nine:
Amber Times Nine:
About the brand: MAC is known for their artistry. Their tagline is “All ages, all races, all sexes” so they are all about inclusivity. They are always coming out with new collections and cool collabs. These eyeshadows are apart of their permanent product lineup.
As with any MAC eyeshadows, there have always been dupes. Makeup Geek has a lot of shades similar to MAC and also has excellent quality. There is also a brand called Karity that offers some dupes, but I have never tired so I am not sure of the quality.
MAC offers 8 Times Nine palettes, some of which have just been released. I have two of them: Dusky Rose Times Nine and Amber Times Nine. MAC shadows have a variety of formulas. The formulas within these palettes are matte, frost, lustre, satin, and veluxe. Into the swatches!
Dusky Rose Times Nine (L to R): Macnificent Me!, Quiet Type, Dance in the Dark, Fabulous DNA, Pleasing to the Eye, Sable, Frankly Frosty, In My Element, Cool Complement
Amber Times Nine (L to R): Cozy Grey, Kitties, Georgia Peach, Ricepaper, Creative Copper, Cork, Don’t Tell, Aromatic, Pepper Please
For both of these looks, I tried to use as many shadows in the palettes as I could. Here is a look I came up with for the Dusky Rose palette. I think this palette makes my eyes pop a lot!
Fabulous DNA from lash line to brow bone, Sable on whole lid, Macnificent Me on the inner corner, Frankly Frosty mixed with Cool Complement blended into the crease, Pleasing to the Eye swept lightly on brow bone, Quiet Type placed on the center of the lid.
For the Amber Palette, I recruited the help of my roommate Stef. She’s the best! 🙂 I made a more natural and light look for her.
Cozy Grey from lash line to brow bone, Cork in crease, Kitties on the inner lid, Don’t Tell on the outer lid, Ricepaper placed on the center of the lid, Aromatic blended into the outer V, Georgia Peach swept on brow bone, Pepper Please as a soft and smoky liner.
These palettes are so convenient! They are tiny, have a variety of shades and finishes, and you can make a lot of different looks with them. The only thing I would change about these palettes would be to put a minor in them. But, I’m also just needy.
What do you guys think of these Times Nine Palettes? Have you tried any or are any on your makeup wishlist? I would love to hear your thoughts below!!
