MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

Some days, you just don’t want a lot of makeup. On those days, I reach for brow gel, mascara, lip gloss, and this MAC powder. This has been a chronic repurchase in my collection for the last 3 years. It really is a “no makeup” makeup. It isn’t heavy, it evens out the skin, and gives a glowing look. Let’s get to the deets!

QUICK FACTS

Price: $33 for this powder compact. It lasts a pretty long time and I use it mostly everyday.

Cruelty Free/Vegan: Not either 😦

“Good for you” ingredients: The MAC Cosmetics website describes this powder as a, ” slow-baked powder with 77-Mineral Complex that provides a natural, dimensional finish.” Not sure what the 77 Mineral Complex is in detail, but I can definitely agree that it give a natural and dimensional finish!

Packaging: Really basic but gets the job done. Bonus, it does have a magnet closure! After a while of using, the mirror on the lid gets too powder and blurry to use (my only gripe).

SHADE RANGE

MAC offers a regular Mineralize Skinfinish and a Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. The main difference is that the regular one is used for highlighting, bronzing, blush and general “luster.” Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is a face powder with skin tone shades. The regular is available in 6 shades and the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is available in 18 shades! I wear the shade “Light Plus”

WEAR TEST

I wear this product 3 specific ways- on its own to even out my complexion, after foundation as a setting powder for the face and under the eyes,  and to touch up after I get oily. That’s why I love it, its an all purpose powder.

Here is how it looks on its own to even out. Although you can still see some blemishes, it gives the skin a more evened out appearance.

Here is my skin with foundation and concealer that I have been wearing for about 10 hours.

This is what it looks like after the powder has been applied to touch up. You can see the reduced shine but it does not look cakey.

APPLICATION METHOD

 I like to apply this with a kabuki brush or a fluffy powder brush. Either does the trick fine!

This is my favorite face powder. I like that I am able to use it a variety of different ways. That justifies the price tag for me.
